VOCES DE AMERICA – PERU 2018

The Official Peruvian Community of Smule “Smule Peru”, presents the first Latin-American singing competition in Smule: “VOCES DE AMERICA”.

This Project gathers the Smule latin users belonging to the Latin-American communities in other countries to participate in the musical celebration, which purpose is:

  • To promote the art of singing in Latin American, just like the use of the Karaoke app “Sin! Smule” in the Latin-American countries.
  • To introduce the talent of some “hidden artists”, and so give them the opportunity of expressing their great potential.
  • To generate brotherhood and friendship among Latin-American fans of singing and music.
  • To know the culture of each country through their music and traditions.

The event “VOCES DE AMERICA” (VDA) will count with the participation of one National Community per country; these will be called “VDA Associated Communities”.  Every year or season, one of the VDA Associated Communities will have the honor and responsibility of organizing the current VDA according to the year or season, with the support in the organization of the community Smule Peru. There are 21 Latin Communities with different nationalities, enabled to compete and register every year.

The competition will have a base initially formed by Smule Peru. However, this format may vary depending on the decisions made by the other Latin American associated communities. The only requirement would be to be part of the communities registered in the current season. The dates for the event could also be made along the team leaders. There will be an opportunity to invite one non-Latin Community.

VDA – PERU 2018 opens this year. The first season will take place on October 1st of the current year, and it will count with the participation of 9 registered communities:

  • Peruvian Community (SMULE PERU) as host
  • Guatemalan Community (#CHAPINES502)
  • Ecuadorian Community (ECUADOR TU VOZ)
  • Argentinian Community (LA VOZ ARGENTINA)
  • Bolivian Community (SMULE BOLIVIA)
  • Chilean Community (SING CHILE)
  • Mexican Community (MEXICANOS DE CORAZON)
  • Costa Rican Community (PURA VIDA TICOS)
  • Dominican Community (DOMINICAN REPUBLIC VOICES)

We’d like to celebrate this initiative and, in the same time, to thank to the organizers “Smule Peru” admin team, the Mexican collaborators this year: Sue and Kerenha, and also to Smule, for giving us the opportunity of performing and supporting us in this competition and all the activities we make, with the purpose of letting the world know and enjoy about our music.

SWC 2018: NEW CHAMPION MAKING HISTORY

This year, during July, the 3rd Season of the singing competition “Smule World Championship 2018” took place. 48 official teams were introduced, 24 per version and every team with 10 members or more. Some teams were already known and some others were new. A fun competition and with high expectations due the new registered teams, one of them: NiTRO.

FROM A FIERCE BATTLE TO GLORY

Being this the first appearance in SWC, the team “NiTRO”, formed by: Mike, Osmar, Bernardo, Neko, Kelly, Elita, Jean Paul, Marie, Lina, Luna, Sheila, Mini, Rebeca, Nathy, Juan y Jacqueline, started from week 1 with the highest score in the Spanish version of the competition, being constantly chased by its contestant rival, the team: STRADIVARIUS (SVU), which, at the end, was defeated in the final round. And with this victory, they finally obtained the title of “Champion” for the Spanish version.

In the other and, in the English version, the last year Champion was determined to defend its title, but this was not easy for them. There was a rival with a lot of experience, participating in this competition since 2016, and this team was decided to finally crown itself as the new Champion. This team was “SING ARSA” (SINGA); which, from week 1, competed side by side with the ex -Champion “DVOCALIST SUPERB” (DVS), and both got into the finals for the English version, having as result, the victory for the team SINGA.

An absolute Champion had to be crowned between the Champion of the Spanish version “NiTRO” and the Champion of the English version “SINGA”. And, to make this Global Final more entertaining and epic, for first time, they faced this final round with a song in video mode, where the team “NiTRO” rose up with the title of absolute Champion. It was a very hard and entertained battle, where the winner was the music.

MAKING HISTORY

NiTRO proved to be one of the strongest contestants of this season and, possibly, one of the best teams in the history of the competition. The team stayed week after week and until the final round, as the first place of the general scores of the Spanish version, and even surpassing the scores of the teams of the English version, achieving an important and distinguished milestone.

Congratulations to the new absolute Champion of SWC 2018: Nitro, for achieving such performance.

Sing “Love Is Here To Stay” with TONY BENNETT!

Today is a very special day as we bring on a very special person in the music industry, Mr. Tony Bennett. We are going down the memory lane strong with an ever so loved musical hero. Tony has been nominated for 34 Grammy awards and won 18, including a Lifetime Achievement Award, and has sold over 50 million copies over the course of his musical career. Tony takes music very seriously, in an interview regarding his music genre, he states:

I’m not staying contemporary for the big record companies, I don’t follow the latest fashions. I never sing a song that’s badly written. In the 1920s and ’30s, there was a renaissance in music that was the equivalent of the artistic Renaissance. Cole Porter, Johnny Mercer and others just created the best songs that had ever been written. These are classics, and finally they’re not being treated as light entertainment. This is classical music.

Below is his duet — join him!

Fun Facts on Tony

  • Tony Bennett has two passions: singing and painting. He paints every day, and three of his works are in the Smithsonian’s permanent collection. What’s more, he recently took up sculpture.
  • Tony Bennett is the founder of the Frank Sinatra School of the Arts in Astoria, Queens, New York.
  • Young Tony grew up listening to Al Jolson, Eddie Cantor, Judy Garland, and Bing Crosby as well as jazz artists such as Louis Armstrong, Jack Teagarden, and Joe Venuti.
  • By age 10 he was already singing, and performed at the opening of the Triborough Bridge, standing next to Mayor Fiorello La Guardia who patted him on the head.
  • Tony Bennett attended New York’s School of Industrial Art where he studied painting and music and would later appreciate their emphasis on proper technique, but dropped out to support his family at 16.
