Exciting News: A New VIP Benefit is Coming Your Way!

Hi Smule Community!

We’ve got some fantastic news to share with you – a new VIP benefit is on its way!

If you’ve ever seen a performance in a clearer, more defined way, and loved how it looked, then you’re going to be thrilled that we’re including high-definition as an added benefit to our VIP experience! That’s right, HD all the way! So warm up those vocal cords and get ready to dazzle the screen!

What can you expect?

We’re making HD recording the default setting for both solos and duets, so you can focus on your performance without worrying about toggling settings. That means that when you start a solo or duet as a VIP member, your recording will automatically be in high definition.

Just a heads-up: we’re gradually rolling this out on Android and plan to bring it to all VIP users in the future. Now, doesn’t that sound fabulous? We think so too!

We believe that having control is key to a fantastic user experience.

Now, we know there’s a time and a place for everything, and sometimes you might not want your performance recorded in high definition. That’s why we’ve added the option to enable or disable HD recording right in the Settings menu! So, you can turn off the HD option whenever you want – you’re in control!

How to turn off the HD option:

1. Visit your Profile.
2. Click the menu in the upper right-hand corner.
3. Select Settings.
4. Nestled under Support you’ll see Record in HD Quality.
5. Toggle the button off.

How to tell if you’re recording in HD:

You’ll notice a little icon in the upper-left hand corner of your performance window that says “HD” – this lets you know that HD is on. When it’s not there, this means you’re recording in standard definition.  You can always double check in your Settings menu to see whether Record in HD Quality is toggled on or off.

Quick note for iOS VIP users: HD recording is already enabled by default for solos! Just update to iOS 13.1.3 or higher, and your solos will automatically be in HD.

We’re excited to offer this new VIP benefit, and to see how it will bring some added sparkle to your Smule experience and musical journey! Enjoy!
