UPDATE (May 13, 2024):
We’re happy to share that we’ve rolled out the same security enhancements to improve Chat on Android that were originally launched on iOS in March 2024. Learn more about how we’re working to make a safer Smule community below!
Original Post (March 11, 2024):
Hi Smule Community,
We’re pleased to share the latest security enhancement to the Smule Chat, designed to empower our community with greater safety and control. As part of our ongoing commitment to offering a safe, positive platform for music lovers, community members can now report concerning users directly through the chat interface. This streamlined process will help us take the necessary disciplinary action against bad actors and spam accounts, and foster a culture of accountability and trust. The new functionality is available on iOS, and is coming soon to Android.
Here’s a quick tutorial on how to report an offending user in the Smule Chat:
How to ‘Report User’ in Chat:
1. Tap the ‘chat’ icon on the top right of your screen from the Feed, Explore, Songbook or Activity tabs.
2. Open the Chat with the specific user you want to report
3. Click the ‘i’ in the top right corner and select ‘Report user’
OR
1. Select ‘Block’ on the ‘new message request’ pop-up message
2. Select ‘Report User’
We believe this enhancement will further improve the experience for everyone, and help promote positive, safe interactions within the Smule community. As always, if you have any questions or want to share your thoughts, don’t hesitate to reach out to our dedicated Support team at support@smule.com.
Thank you for playing an important role in creating a safer Smule community!
