Smule Security Tips: Protect yourself from Fraudulent Messages, Scams & Phishing
While it’s difficult to prevent all spamming and malicious messaging from being sent to you, there are some Smule security tips you should remember when reading and responding to messages you receive. Think about it this way: if it looks too good to be true, most likely it’s a fraudulent attempt to collect your personal information. Be wary of emails, messages, chats promising monetary rewards or fame and anyone asking you for personally identifiable information such as your full name, address, phone number, or bank information.
Here are some helpful Smule security tips:
1. Don’t share your personal information
Don’t share your personal information, such as government-issued ID numbers, birthdate, credit card or bank account numbers with people you don’t personally know. There are fraudsters and impersonators out there.
2. Don’t enter usernames, passwords, or other personal information
Don’t enter usernames, passwords, or other personal information by clicking on links from chat messages or emails or respond to a request to provide it unless you have contacted our support team.
3. The email domain should contain the actual company name
The email domain should contain the actual company name, such as @smule.com. Messages trying to create the impression they are coming from Smule often do not have @smule.com ending.
4. Use caution when clicking on links
Use caution when clicking on links contained within messages. Malware can infiltrate your system if you click on a bad link. If you’re not confident in the nature of the link, move your cursor over any link (without clicking on it) to verify that it’s directing you to the real website.
